A beautiful matching set! Made of enameled metal, the body of the jewel box is in the shape of a turtle with a frog sitting on its shell. The box is cast from pewter, then gold-plated and hand glazed with vivid enamels in lustrous brown, green, orange and yellow glass. The turtle's shell is studded with clear Austrian crystals. The shell of the turtle is hinged and lifts up to reveal a hidden compartment. Inside the hidden space is a necklace with a small turtle pendant. The pendant is enameled with clear crystal inset into its shell. The picture to the left shows the necklace with its chain disappearing into the box. The box is sealed with a magnetic clasp and the inside compartment is enameled in a peach color. Size: Box is 1-3/4" high, 2-3/4" long, pendant is 3/4" long and 3/8" high on a 20" twisted gold-plated metal chain.
