This neat little trinket box is actually like 2 boxes. The brass colored turtle with the brown enameled, crystal inset shell is hinged at the tail. It opens to reveal a small compartment that you can store really tiny earrings or pills in.

The turtle is attached to the egg by a small magnet at the base of the turtle's throat. You can entirely remove the turtle and place a larger item such as a necklace or ring inside the egg. Put the turtle back in and voila! Two boxes in one!

Both the turtle and the egg are brass-colored metal with a shiny enameled finish.
