Porcelain Desert Tortoise
TDR5552
What's the difference between a turtle and a tortoise?
Well, generally turtles are good swimmers and spend a lot of time in the water, especially salt water, while tortoises are land based and generally only come to water for the purpose of drinking.
The Desert tortoise is native to the southwest United States and northern Mexico and is about 4 to 6 inches tall when fully grown. Amazingly, these tortoises can survive for up to a year without drinking any water at all, using only what they get from the plants they eat.
This hand-painted porcelain replica of the Desert Tortoise can survive without water for even longer than that. In fact, it's probably best if you don't give it water, ever. Unless, of course, you choose a potted plant as its home. Then it's okay!
Size: About 2.5" long and 2.5" wide.
